I've the same problem. When i configure Cubic player for playing MIDI files, i 
can play only MIDI files, when i try to ply something order, CP hangs in 
messages' Preparing samples', but sometimes it was fine and CP normally plays 
mod, s3m files, but mouslty hangs :-( 

I'ha two configuration. The first is for playing normal sample format files 
(mod, s3m etc), and second is form MIDI files. Diference is between mixing 
frekfency and path to patches ...

I readed that, but i forgot, sorry. But i thing CP1.666 will be bether than 
CP1.6 surely.

I use CP 1.6, SB Pro is WSS mode (it's 16 bit,stereo and 44KHz mix) on ISP-16 
card, 486DX2/66, 8Mb
